The engineering –geologic survey is applicable in the preparatory works regarding land-use planning and building design. It is a source of information concerning foundation conditions. It also specifies building conditions required for sloping terrains, helps to evaluate possible consequences of floods etc.. Environmental utilization of engineering-geologic survey lies for example in searching for areas suitable for establishing new landfills.

Methods used in IG research:
- engineering-geologic survey is being designed individually according to the Eurocode 7: Geotechnical Design part 2: The research in examination of subsoil (ČSN EN 1997-2). Besides other things, this norm also presents the applicability of reconnaissance methods. Accordingly, we make use of the results of tested soil and rock samples belonging to categories A and C, also of penetration and other tests.
Regarding the engineering-geologic survey, we also offer other related hyrdogeological workings:
- evaluation of the groundwater flow,
- hydrodynamic examinations (čerpací a stoupací zkoušky) for evaluation; the proposal of excavation drainage,
- water sampling with regard to evaluating whether the water (substances dissolved in it) could damage conctructions,
- monitoring of water sources and its subsequent evaluation and passportisation in the surroundings of projected constructions in order to prevent potential conflicts of interest.
